Idahoans enjoy a rich tradition based in Natural Resources. Latah and Benewah Counties are no exception to that, whether it is the rich Palouse wheat and legume fields, the timber logged from the mountains of north Idaho, the beautiful St. Joe River or the wild rice farms, we earn our living from the land. I believe it is our responsibility to safeguard these resources for future generations. To me, that doesn’t mean locking it up or locking us out. It means using the land and water wisely, keeping environmental risks to a minimum and putting the research our Universities have done into practice so we can incorporate the best practices possible into our use of these lands. I come from a family that loves the outdoors. We spend portions of every summer camping and fishing along the St. Joe River at Red Ives. My husband and sons hunt every Fall. Having done that with our children, we want to be able to enjoy it with our grandchildren.
